Magnus Midtbø was a regular finalist in the Lead World Cup scene several years ago. After retiring to have more time for outdoor pursuits, he’s started his own successful YouTube channel. In between days spent vlogging, working at the local gym or answering emails, Midtbø made time to tick 5.15s, including his 180 foot line Thor’s Hammer (5.15a).
In this vlog, Midtbø made a bet with his friends: if he was able to campus a 5.12b in the gym, then his friend had to buy everyone ice cream. If not, then Midtbø was buying.
“On routes you definitely don’t feel strong after a break [from climbing],” Midtbø said in the first half of this video while explaining that he didn’t feel that particularly great on the wall after “four days of basically just drinking and eating.” Despite not feeling his strongest, he accepted the challenge from his friend.
