Friday Feat: Outdoor Run-and-Jump!

 

Run-and-jumps aren’t only for indoor comp climbing. Here, Olympic-qualified brothers Bassa and Mickael Mawem demonstrate where the outdoor and indoor worlds collide.

The duo is one of the strongest sets of kin in the climbing world and the only pair to have qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Games in Sport Climbing. From Clermont Ferrand, France, Fontainebleau is stomping grounds for the Mawem brothers. Shown here on a Font classic—La Marie Rose, the area’s first 6a (V2), the two put their own twist on sending the techy white slab.
