Solenne Piret, 28, was the 2018 and 2019 Paraclimbing World Champion for her category.

Despite being born without her right forearm, Piret got her start in climbing early. “I wanted to be like my older bro and sister,” she wrote Gym Climber.

Piret works as a freelance architect. She tends to schedule her week around good outdoor conditions. She added: “This year, I want to professionalize myself as a climber, in order to develop paraclimbing and to explore the limits of one-arm climbing for future generations. I definitely want to show to the entire world that we must dare to believe in our dreams!”

When Piret isn’t working or climbing, she cooks and gardens.

For readers in need of a bit of inspiration for the coming weekend, Piret offered these words: “I think climbing is a way of life: taking care of our environment in our practice AND our daily life. Also, … perseverance, resilience, patience…

“We only have the limits we set ourselves.”

Happy Friday!
