Vadim Timonov, 27, hails from Saint-Petersburg, Russia. He describes his training schedule as “free mode” and “When I have the strength, I train. When not, I rest.” Timonov first discovered climbing when he was 10. He competed at international level for several years and then took a hiatus from 2007 until 2012 because he lost interest. When he returned to the sport, he made finals in his first Bouldering World Cup back. He also began taking the outdoor world by storm. Timonov has since sent nine V15s, including Nalle Hukkataival’s The Understanding in Magic Wood. For now, Timonov says he has many projects around the world. And lucky for him, coronavirus is not currently a major threat in Russia; climbers are still free to do what they do best outside.
