“I tried the move to the ledge around 100 times,” wrote Ryan Lashoff, 20, to Gym Climber.

Lashoff, from Park City, Utah, was on season 12 of American Ninja Warrior. He began training for the show at age 15, and he took up climbing at that age as well. Prior to beginning both sports, Lashoff played hockey. He hopes to one day win American Ninja Warrior, and to also work in the hockey industry.

We at Gym Climber think our sport is pretty great, obviously. It’s easy to start climbing and obsess over it. Lashoff is a prime example that variety may be just what you need to not only stay motivated, but also get stronger.

“I stay psyched doing all these different sports because I have so much fun doing them!” he wrote. “I’d be doing them all the time if I could.”
