At only 19 years old, Margo Hayes is one of the best-known female climbers in the US, her fame skyrocketing after completing the notorious La Rambla route in Siurana, Spain. Hayes talks about the emotional rollercoaster she experienced while nearing the top of her ascent – an attempt she made despite bleeding hands and already-fatigued limbs. She credits the support of the climbing community, as well as family and friends, for her courage and perseverance.
“I remember I was so thrilled that when I got to the bottom, I asked them to pinch me and I started crying. It was a surreal moment and it was one that I won’t ever forget.”
