The IFSC Asian Championships and Oceania Championships have been rescheduled to take place in December. The Asian Championships will be hosted in Xiamen (CHN) from December 10 to 13 and the Oceania Championships in Sydney (AUS) from December 19 to 20.

After initially being programmed in March 2020, both competitions had been postponed to a later date because of the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing the IFSC, the respective continental councils and event organizers to produce an additional effort and work towards a rescheduling.

As per the Qualifying System, each continental competition organized in 2020 will award two quota places for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games – one slot per gender.

The only continental championship organized so far – in Los Angeles (USA) from February 24 to March 1 – saw Canada’s Alannah Yip and United States’ Colin Duffy earn a ticket for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad. The IFSC European Championships have already been rescheduled in Moscow (RUS) from October 1 to 8, while the new dates of the African Championships have yet to be defined.
